Village Camp Moab: The Luxury RV Resort

Village Camp Moab — formerly Portal RV Resort — is the top of the Moab RV market: concrete pads, two pools and hot tubs, a fitness center, pickleball, and adventure cabins, all a 5 minute drive from the Arches entrance on the north side of town. It's also the most selective park in Moab, with a rig age policy you need to know before you book.

Moab's Premier RV Resort, Rebranded and Upgraded

Village Camp Moab is what happened when the Roberts Resorts family took over the well regarded Portal RV Resort and pushed it upmarket. The bones were already good — level sites, a north Moab location minutes from Arches, views of the Moab Rim — and the rebrand layered on resort infrastructure: two pools and spas, a fitness center, pickleball and cornhole, two frequently cleaned bathhouses, laundry, dog parks, and a lineup of luxury adventure cabins, casitas, and full vacation homes for the non RV half of your group.

The property splits into two RV sections. The North Side is the open campground — level gravel sites with concrete patios, available to all registered RVs that meet the resort's standards. The South Side holds the premium and ownership sites, where large concrete pads and perimeter placement buy privacy and the best rim views. Both sides share full access to every amenity on the property.

Location is the quiet superpower here. You're 1.5 miles from downtown restaurants, 3 miles from the Arches entrance — close enough for a sunrise slot at Delicate Arch without a 5 am alarm — about 25 miles from Canyonlands Island in the Sky, and a brewery sits within walking distance of your site. For mountain bikers and off road groups, the north of town position trims the morning drive to nearly every major trailhead.

Read This Before Booking: The Rig Policy

Village Camp is the only Moab park on our list that screens rigs at the gate. The rule exists to keep the resort aesthetic consistent — and it's enforced. Here's exactly where the line sits.

Welcome

  • Class A, B, and C motorhomes, 10 years or newer
  • Travel trailers and fifth wheels, 10 years or newer
  • Older rigs in excellent condition — submit photos to management for approval
  • Super C rigs in the premium section, with manager approval

Not Permitted

  • Tents of any kind
  • Pop up and hybrid trailers
  • Truck campers
  • Cargo trailers, including conversions
  • Anything made of canvas or nylon

Turned away by the list? Moab Rim Campark welcomes every rig type plus tents and has cabins from $74, and our Moab campgrounds guide covers the tent friendly options.

Three Site Tiers, Explained

Village Camp prices its RV sites in a clear ladder. The right rung depends on your rig size, your sewer needs, and how much privacy you're buying.

Standard

Gravel · 30 amp · No sewer

The entry point: level gravel sites with views toward the Portal Trail and the red rock skyline, positioned close to the restrooms. No sewer at the pad, but a dump station on the property covers tank duty on your way out.

  • Water and 30 amp electric
  • Dump station access included
  • Closest sites to the bathhouses
  • Best for smaller and mid size rigs
The budget path into a resort property — you trade sewer at the site for the lowest rate on the ladder.

Premium

Full hookups · Extra space

The middle rung balances convenience and scenery: full hookups, room for slide outs, and extra outdoor living space with panoramic desert views. Sized for mid size RVs and built for stays long enough to actually unpack.

  • Water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric
  • Room for slide outs and camp furniture
  • Panoramic desert and rim views
  • Best for families and week long stays
The sweet spot for most travelers — resort access and full hookups without the top tier price.

Elite Plus

Concrete pads · Perimeter privacy

The top of the ladder: spacious, private sites along the quiet perimeter of the property, each with a large concrete pad and the full utility package. Perimeter placement means rim views out the back — reviewers mention watching deer graze behind their sites.

  • Large concrete pad, fully level
  • Water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric
  • WiFi and cable TV at the site
  • Best for big rigs and view seekers
Premium section rigs must be Class A or fifth wheels 10 years or newer; Super C with manager approval.
Two hookup rules to pack for: Village Camp requires a doughnut gasket with a 90 degree elbow on all sewer connections and a pressure reducing valve on your water hookup. Both are cheap at any RV supply store — buy them before arrival, because the rules are enforced and the camp store is small.

No Rig? Cabins, Casitas & Vacation Homes

Village Camp's rental lineup lets mixed groups — half RVers, half not — stay on one property. Three formats, in ascending order of space and price.

Rental Sleeps Layout Notes
Adventure Cabin 4–5 Queen bed, 2 twin loft beds, sleeper sofa 2 night minimum; rooftop balcony via spiral staircase; loft headroom is low — it's the kids' domain
Luxury Casita 4 Two primary suites, open concept living Floor to ceiling windows; no smoking, no pets ($250 violation fee); private high speed WiFi
Vacation Home Groups Up to 4,000 sq ft custom homes Panoramic Moab Rim views; high end finishes; the top of the nightly rate range

Resort Amenities

This is the amenity load that separates Village Camp from every other park in Moab — and what the premium nightly rate is actually buying.

Two Pools & Spas

One pool and hot tub serves the campground side, another serves the resort side. Hours run 10 am to 10 pm; kids under 14 need an adult in the pool and the hot tubs are 16 and up.

Fitness Center

A modern exercise facility on site — the only one at any Moab RV park. Useful for stretching out after long drives or keeping a routine on extended stays.

Pickleball & Cornhole

A pickleball court plus lawn games give the property an actual evening social scene, which reviewers consistently call out as a highlight for families.

Two Bathhouses & Laundry

Bathhouses are cleaned frequently through the day and night, closing in rotation one hour daily for deep scrubbing. On site laundry covers the red dust problem.

Dog Parks

Pet areas on both sides of the property, including a dedicated dog park on the resort side, so the dog gets real off leash time without a drive into town.

Walkable Brewery

A brewery sits within walking distance of the resort — a rare "leave the truck parked" dinner option among Moab RV parks.

WiFi honesty: The resort is upfront that WiFi isn't built for streaming during peak evening hours when the park is full. Download your shows in town or bring your own hotspot if evening streaming is non negotiable.

What's Around Village Camp Moab

The north of town position is the closest of our four featured parks to Arches — drive times below start from the resort entrance.

Destination Drive Time What You'll Do There
Arches National Park entrance ~5 minutes Delicate Arch, Devils Garden — closest featured park to the gate
Downtown Moab (Main Street) ~4 minutes Restaurants, City Market grocery, outfitter shops

Delicate Arch trailhead ~20 minutes Moab's most iconic hike, 3 miles round trip

The Honest Verdict

Reviews for Village Camp trend strongly positive with a consistent set of caveats. Here's the pattern across hundreds of stays.

What Works

  • Closest featured park to Arches — 5 minutes to the entrance
  • Genuinely clean bathhouses, showers, and laundry, cleaned in rotation daily
  • Two pools and hot tubs — real relief in triple digit summer heat
  • Level sites throughout; reviewers report zero leveling needed
  • Off the highway, so nights are dark and quiet with visible stars
  • Mixed group flexibility: RV sites plus cabins, casitas, and homes on one property
  • Only fitness center and pickleball court at any Moab RV park

What Doesn't

  • The strictest rig policy in Moab — 10 year rule, no tents, no canvas
  • Premium pricing; the top of the Moab RV market by a clear margin
  • Sites sit close together; interior sites can face sheds or rental units instead of rim views
  • WiFi throttles under evening load — the resort says so itself
  • Small camp store; supply runs still mean town
  • No washing rigs or vehicles anywhere on the property

How to Book Village Camp Moab

Book directly through the resort's site. Five steps keep the reservation clean.

1

Clear the rig policy first

Confirm your rig is a Class A, B, or C, travel trailer, or fifth wheel 10 years or newer. Older rig in great shape? Email photos to management for approval before you book, not at the gate.

2

Pick your tier

Standard if you're saving money and don't mind the dump station; Premium for full hookups and space; Elite Plus for the concrete pad and perimeter privacy. Big rigs headed for the premium section should note the Class A / fifth wheel requirement there.

3

Book on the official site

Reserve at villagecamp.com. Watch for seasonal promotions — the resort runs periodic extended stay deals with minimum night requirements. Note that your exact site number is a request; the on site manager makes final placement.

4

Pack the required fittings

Doughnut gasket with 90 degree elbow for sewer, pressure reducing valve for water. Both required, both enforced, both cheaper at home than in Moab.

5

Time your arrival

Check in opens at 1 pm, check out is 11 am, and late departures are fee based and case by case. Arriving early? Grab lunch downtown 4 minutes away, or queue a first lap through Moab's things to do while you wait.

Village Camp Moab FAQ

What is the RV age restriction at Village Camp Moab?

The resort accepts Class A, B, and C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels that are 10 years old or newer. Older rigs in excellent condition can submit photos to management for approval before booking. The premium and ownership section is limited to Class A rigs and fifth wheels, with Super C permitted by manager approval.

Are tents allowed at Village Camp Moab?

No. Tents, pop up trailers, hybrid trailers, truck campers, cargo trailers (including conversions), and anything made of canvas or nylon are not permitted anywhere in the resort. Tent campers should see our Moab campgrounds guide or Moab Rim Campark, which has grass tent sites.

How much does Village Camp Moab cost per night?

Nightly rates span roughly $59 to $769 depending on what you book and when — the low end covers off season standard RV sites and the high end covers large vacation homes in peak season. RV sites occupy the lower half of that range, climbing through Standard, Premium, and Elite Plus tiers. Spring and fall weekends command peak pricing.

Was Village Camp Moab called something else before?

Yes — the property operated for years as Portal RV Resort and rebranded to Village Camp Moab under the Roberts Resorts family. Older reviews and map listings under the Portal name refer to the same property.

How far is Village Camp Moab from Arches National Park?

About 3 miles — a 5 minute drive to the entrance station, making it the closest of Moab's major RV parks to Arches. Downtown Moab is 1.5 miles the other direction.

Does Village Camp Moab have a pool?

Two, plus hot tubs — one set on the campground side and one on the resort side, open 10 am to 10 pm. Children under 14 must have an adult present to swim, and the hot tubs are restricted to guests 16 and older.

Are pets allowed at Village Camp Moab?

Yes at RV sites, with dog parks on both sides of the property. The luxury casitas are a no pet accommodation with a $250 violation fee, so mixed groups traveling with dogs should put the pets on the RV side or in a pet approved rental.

Can I wash my RV or Jeep at the resort?

No — washing vehicles or RVs is prohibited on the property, and vehicle maintenance on the lots is not allowed either. If you're running off road trails and want to rinse the rig afterward, Sunsets of Moab RV Park has an on site rinse area, or use a car wash in town.
